MOUNTAIN VIEW – The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroners Office has identified two people killed in a wrong-way crash on Highway 85 in Mountain View last week as Safa Ngo, 35, of American Canyon, and Sarah Renazco, 27, of Mountain View.

The collision occurred about 1 a.m. Friday near the Highway 237 exit, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers arrived to find a 2018 Ford Explorer overturned and in flames. A second vehicle, a 2010 Honda Civic, was badly damaged.

The CHP said Renazco was driving the Explorer southbound in northbound lanes when she collided head-on with Ngo in the Civic.

Ngo was wearing a seat belt, but he still suffered fatal injuries in the crash, according to the CHP. Renazco, the CHP said, was not wearing a seat belt and was trapped inside the Explorer after the collision. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and it isnt known yet if alcohol or drugs played a role.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact CHP Officer Ricky Patlan Jr. at 650-369-6261.
