On SNL, Pete Davidson Asks Kanye West To “Make Kanye 2006 Again”

Last weeks Saturday Night Live premiere took a turn after musical guest Kanye West unspooled a rambling, pro-Donald Trump speech. While SNL did not air Wests rant, social-media was replete with video of West talking about how Democrats had a conspiracy to make black fathers leave their families and promote welfare, amongst other curious reflections.

During this weeks episode, which was hosted by Awkwafina, Pete Davidson took to Weekend Update to talk about Wests rant. Davidson said that that while some in the audience might have expected Michael Che, who is black, to address the West incident, Davidson is “crazy” and “we both know which side of Kanye is at the wheel right now.” Davidson shared how uncomfortable and awkward he felt during Kanyes post-episode rant, and included some video evidence of himself creeping off the stage during the diatribe.

West has said that he is bipolar; Davidson said that being mentally ill isnt an excuse to be a “jackass.” He ended the segment by saying he just wants West to “Make Kanye 2006 again,” while donning a hat with the same message.
