Priyanka Chopra has experienced the highs and lows of Hollywood so far.

The Bollywood actress has suffered another disappointment as her upcoming movie, Cowboy Ninja Viking, has been shelved by Universal.

Chris Pratt was set to star in the movie and filming had been scheduled to commence mid-August in London ahead of a 28 June 2019 release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Priyanka, 36, was due to play the female lead role but Universal decided to push it back to a later date in order to accommodate production scheduling. Since March, rumours had circulated that the movie would be pulled due to ongoing script issues.

Cowboy, which is still in active development, was being helmed by Michelle MacLaren who has directed several episodes of Game of Thrones. There were high hopes for the movie as Universal were planning on turning it into a blockbuster franchise with an initial $65 million (£50.3 million) budget.

The movie is being adapted from the Image Comics book of the same name and follows a counterintelligence group of Multiple Personality Disorder patients who transform into agents, some of whom eventually become hired killers.

It comes just days after Priyanka quit Bollywood movie, Bharat, and following the final episode of her Hollywood TV series, Quantico, which was cancelled.

Priyankas involvement with the project was announced less than two weeks after she pulled out of Bharat in July.

Director Ali Abbas seemed to suggest that the reason for Priyankas departure was because she had got engaged to Nick Jonas, something which is yet to be confirmed. A Bharat producer later called Priyanka unprofessional for quitting at such short notice.

News of Cowboys stalling is just the latest disappointment for Priyanka, who transitioned from Bollywood to Hollywood movies two years ago. The actress has been forced to bid farewell to her TV show, Quantico, which was cancelled after three seasons.
