Queer Eye Gifts Fans Bonus Mini-Episode in Yass, Australia

Dry your tears, ye who have already demolished Season 2 of Queer Eye. This week, Netflix dropped a bonus mini-episode of the makeover series, which sees the Fab Five journey to the town of Yass, Australia. They had to find a way to outdo Gay, Georgia, right?

In the episode, the crew—Tan France, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, Bobby Berk, and Antoni Porowski—head to a ranch in Yass. Theyre on a mission to fix up George, a local farmer in his fifties with scruff and a cowboy hat permanently affixed to his head; Van Ness aptly describes him as an “Aussie Marlboro Man.” His son, Levi, nominated him for the series, hoping that a makeover will help his dad get enough confidence to go back out on the dating scene. George, despite his stoic cowboy act, tears up at multiple points in even this shortened episode, proving that no one is immune to the softening power of the Fab Five.

Theyre also in Yass to fix up a local bistro called the Club House Hotel, which becomes Berk and Porowskis personal mission. Berk immediately sets about shining up the pubs historical bones, while Porowski redesigns the menu, which he likens to writing a book. “Its not as linear, but you kinda get to like, have all the components come together and create a story.” Sure! For Porowski, this particular story includes mushroom and Vegemite tapas; perhaps some of that inspiration will stick with him as he creates the menu for his own fast-casual restaurant.

Though their encounter does not appear in this episode, the Fab Five also met with Rowena Abbey, the mayor of Yass, during their visit. She gave all of them crowns, dubbing each of them an official “Yass Queen.” Bless this show.
