Jason Witten reportedly could make a whole lot more money this year if he leaves the game to take a broadcaster job for ESPNs “Monday Night Football.
Sources told the Dallas Morning News Monday that the Dallas Cowboys player could get a salary of between $4 and $4.5 million from ESPN if he decides to retire from the NFL after spending 15 years in the league. If the Pro Bowl tight end continues to play, he will earn $1.05 million this year in salary plus could score up to $750,00 in per-game roster bonuses, according to NBC News.

However, the decision to leave the game might also be complicated by the fact that the Cowboys player reportedly has more than one broadcast offer on the table.
According to ESPNs Chris Mortensen, Witten will not be making any decision before Wednesday as he has been approached by another network with an “interesting” offer.
“Jason Witten continues to contemplate his decision on retirement to join MNF broadcast team but a source says another network has made a last-minute interesting proposal that also is being considered. Announcement likely will be Wednesday. The @dallascowboys still hope he plays,” Mortensen tweeted.

On Friday, reports surfaced that Witten would be leaving this year to take the ESPN gig, even though Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said no “decision” had been made yet.
“Ive talked to Jason several times this week,” Jones shared. “I have met with him, met with him as late as a few hours ago and weve had great discussions. He has not made any decisions that are definite at this time.”
“We have no announcement today as it pertains to Jasons future other than to say that hes a wonderful and valued member of our organization and our family,” he added. “With respect to Jason and his wishes, this is all were going to say regarding that subject for the remainder of the weekend.”
