Saturday Night Live Shows Tiffany Haddish, Chris Hemsworth, and More Stars Auditioning as Oscar Hosts

Celebrities

Among the many rumors about what might happen to next years Oscar ceremony in the wake of Kevin Harts sudden departure last week is the idea of an “S.N.L.-style” group of hosts to shepherd the evening along. Apparently the actual S.N.L. cast heard the call and decided to give their own audition of sorts, with the return of the familiar audition sketch format to show what happens when everyone from Tiffany Haddish to Roseanne Barr auditions for the Oscar host job.

The fake audition reel, previously seen for Jurassic Park and Star Wars, among many others, is usually just an excuse for the cast to show off their best impressions. The Oscar host reel is no different, but some of the dead-on impressions were surprising, from Aidy Bryant as a mischievous Hannah Gadsby—threatening to host the show and quit halfway through—to Matt Damon impersonating his friend Chris Hemsworth to Pete Davidson as an intense Rami Malek. The sketch ends on a pointed note, with a bit not yet included in the clip online; Kate McKinnon reprises her Ellen Degeneres impression to say, sure, shell host the Oscars again, especially since shes never done anythign controversial. “Except being gay, but you guys like that now.”
