After a glorious but humid start to the day Thursday, Storm Team 4 is tracking another round of showers and thunderstorms expected to move into the tri-state area in the afternoon and evening hours. Some isolated severe storms could develop north and west of the city, possibly bringing torrential rain and the risk of localized flash flooding, Storm Team 4 says.

Some of that storm action could linger into the overnight hours, but the threat weakens as the hours roll on, according to Storm Team 4.

A flash flood watch is in effect for Sullivan County. Check the latest severe weather alerts in your neighborhood here.

Storm Team 4 says Friday looks much the same — uncomfortable stickiness during the day with showers and thunderstorms expected to move in during the afternoon hours, once again bringing flooding risks to suburbs north and west.

Conditions will remain pretty damp and humid heading into the weekend, with yet another round of showers and storms expected to overspread the region Saturday morning. While some lingering showers aren't out of the question Saturday afternoon, most of the wet weather tapers off — paving the way for lots of sunshine (and suffocating humidity) to end the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to crank back into the 90s by Sunday and stay that way through the early part of next week.
