After several days of picture-perfect summer weather with low humidity, the heat will be turning up again for the tri-state, with thunderstorms possible for later in the day.

Tuesday will be the only day of the extreme heat before it cools off again, but pop-up storms are expected to the north and west. However, none of the showers will be widespread, Storm Team 4 says.

Most of the day will be sunny and dry, but by the evening commute, a few storms will move in on the Hudson Valley, the Catskills and Poconos as a cold front pushes through. That front will rapidly change the humidity once again just like it did last week, making it feel much more comfortable, meteorologists say.

Tuesdays highs are expected to be in the upper 80s to low 90s for the entire region, but drier air will move in after those pop-up storms keeping temperatures more seasonable starting on Wednesday as they drop to the mid-80s and stay that way through the rest of the workweek.

Tropical Storm Chris, which is expected to become a hurricane sometime Tuesday, is working its way up the coast, but moving far off the shore as it moves north. Although the tri-state wont see much of an impact from the storm, it is churning up the waters, making for moderate surf risks, but Storm Team 4 said it could get worse, depending on its track. The weekend looks to be glorious with highs in the mid to upper 80s, but an isolated shower or storm can't be ruled out either although the best chance for more rain appears to be early next week.
