Stellan Skarsgård has confirmed he wont make an appearance in Avengers: Endgame as Doctor Erik Selvig, but the character still has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The 67-year-old actor has played Selvig in Thor, Avengers Assemble, Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, with his character often tied to the rest of Thors ensemble cast in Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and her intern Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings).
A recent promo for Avengers: Endgame appeared to confirm Selvig had been turned to dust by the Thanos snap, and it seems his character wont be turning up even this action is somehow reversed.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about whether he appears in Endgame, Skarsgard said: No Im not. Ive done four [Marvel films] and they have me contracted for five and they havent called me yet.
They usually call me when they need some weird plot to be explained in a quasi-scientific way.

Considering hes been contracted for five films, it seems theres a strong possibility Selvig will appear in Marvel movies beyond Endgame – with a likely candidate being the rumoured Thor 4.

Skarsgard, however, is surprised hes played the character for this long, adding: I thought it was a one-time thing, but the contract said if they wanted me they could use me for five films, but I didnt think theyd use me for four so it was a surprise.
It was a pleasant surprise because Ive had a lot of fun on those shoots.
If you fancy seeing more Stellan in the near future, however, hes set to star in Sky Atlantics new miniseries Chernobyl opposite Jared Harris.
The only confirmed MCU movies beyond Endgame are Spider-Man: Far From Home, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, Read More – Source
