Tom Jones forced to cancel concert hours before performance due to illness

Tom Jones has cancelled a gig at Stansted Park mere hours before he was set to perform after falling ill.

A message was posted to fans on Twitter just before 5pm from the 78-year-old musicians account.

The message read: It is with regret that we have to cancel Tom Jones performance at Stanstead Park this evening. Unfortunately, Sir Tom is unwell and has been advised by doctors not to perform.

All ticket holders will receive a full refund by contacting their point of purchase. We apologise for any inconvenience this caused and we wish Tom well.

He has a performance scheduled at Chester Racecourse on Thursday night, before jetting off to Germany, Finland, and then back to the UK for more dates in August.

The singer cancelled his US tour last September with just five days left on doctors orders following a hip replacement.

As a result, The Voice judge postponed the tour until 2018.

A rep said: Following medical advice, Sir Tom Jones has announced that he will unfortunately by postponing his US tour, which was due to commence in Bethlehem, PA on Wednesday 6th September.
