With fall just two weeks away, summer is having an end-of-the season blowout.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Bay Area between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, as forecasters warn temperatures will climb 10 to 18 degrees higher than normal and touch 100 degrees in spots.
A high pressure system will bring a quick warming throughout the region, with temperatures striking triple digits in the Santa Clara Valley and East Bay. The heat wave is expected to bring abnormally high temperatures Friday from Santa Rosa south to the Salinas Valley and Pinnacles National Park.
A Spare the Air alert was issued for Friday. Among the expected hot-spots: Walnut Creek is forecast to reach 103 degrees; Concord, 101 degrees; Oakland, 96 degrees; San Jose, 98 degrees; and San Francisco, 89 degrees.
