Walmart is planning to move into New York — but not with a shopping outlet.
The retail giant is planning to open a Bronx fulfillment center for its subsidiary Jet.com, The Wall Street Journal first reported Tuesday.
Jet.com is an e-commerce start-up based in Hoboken, New Jersey, which Walmart acquired roughly two years ago for $3.3 billion in cash and stock.
The online company sells everything from groceries to electronics, and will offer same-day delivery service to New York, according to reports. It competes with companies like Amazon-Whole Foods, Instacart and FreshDirect.

A spokeswoman for Jet said the warehouse opening will bring hundreds of jobs to the neighborhood.
The center is expected to open this fall.
