Two nights and four hours later, weve gotten through the first two Democratic primary debates of the 2020 election cycle. (Just 494 more days until the election, friends!) Thursdays debate included Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Pete Buttigieg, but its breakout star was someone you might not have heard of until now: Marianne Williamson.

Who is Marianne Williamson? The more apt question might be who isnt Marianne Williamson! Throughout the night, the self-help author and spiritual guides singsong cadence and general performative aura earned her comparisons to a number of actresses, including Judith Light, Katey Sagal, and Dynasty era Joan Collins. Williamson was clearly more bluster than substance—promising to seize the power of love to unseat Donald Trump. So naturally, the internet latched onto her as a character unto herself—and luckily for Seth Meyers, he already had Kate McKinnon in the building when he recorded his live special following the debates.

McKinnon has already impersonated at least one other primary candidate, Elizabeth Warren, whom she said “looked like a girl on her wedding day when everyone who ever bullied her was getting a divorce” during her own primary debate Wednesday night.
