Coronation Street is set for heartbreak this week as Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) learns that her cancer has returned and is terminal.

Sinead and Daniel (Rob Mallard) will receive the devastating diagnosis later this week, after their wedding day is overshadowed by Sinead discovering a lump on her neck.

The character will subsequently breathe her last in heartbreaking upcoming scenes – but just when is Katie McGlynn due to exit the soap?

However the actress has already filmed Sineads tragic exit scenes, confirming on Twitter that she had finished filming on the cobbles.

She took to Twitter to confirm she had finished filming over the weekend as she joked: Anybody hiring any actresses around here? 7 years experience on the worlds (sic) longest running soap?

This gained a lot of responses with some assuming she had left the show against her will but she later clarified on social media that this was not the case, saying: I wasnt AXED, it was my decision to leave to pursue other opportunities…this outcome was the only way Sinead would ever leave her family & @itvcorrie behind. It was a mutual decision.

When do Sinead and Daniel find out the bad news?

Sinead and Daniel will discover her cancer is terminal during Wednesday nights double bill of episodes.

Monday night will see Sinead confiding in Bethany (Lucy Fallon) that she hasnt cancelled the wedding and is planning to surprise Daniel – but as Beth (Lisa George) helps her do her hair shes horrified to discover a lump on Sineads neck.
