BTS are killing it in Japan as they are named biggest K-Pop band this year

K-pop boy band BTS emerged as the top Korean artist in album sales in Japan for the first half of 2018.

Oricon chart, Japans version of the Billboard chart, released the single and album sales rankings for the period 25 December 2017 to 18 June 2018.

In the list, Face Yourself, BTS Japanese album released on 4 April, placed fourth place overall with 320,094 copies sold to date. Japanese artists AKB48, Namie Amuro and Kanjani Eight took the first three places.

The album was also certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for selling more than 250,000 copies.

In addition, BTS latest album, Love Yourself: Tear, ranked 11th with 173,743 units in sales.

BTS were earlier recognized as biggest winner at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards wherein they bagged Best Duo/Group, Best Dance Track for Mic Drop (Steve Aoki Remix) and Best Song that Makes You Smile for DNA.

Other K-pop acts also ranked on Oricons sales rankings.

Seventeens We Make You, released on 30 May, ranked 14th with 144,182 copies sold in Japan and EXOs Countdown, released on 31 January, placed 19th with 123,489 units sold, while SHINees compilation album SHINee the Best from Now On grabbed 25th place with 98,678 copies sold.

TWICEs What is Love, released on 11 April, ranked 34th with 64,737 while their first album Twicetagram ranked 41st with 53,655 and EXO-CBXs Magic album, issued on 9 May, is 36th with 62,142 in sales.

Wanna Ones 0 + 1 = 1 (I Promise You) album is 42nd with 53,515 copies sold since its release on 21 March.

NCTs Chain ranked 45th with 49,289 units in sales and G-Dragons Kwon Ji Young, released last December, is 46th with 49,034 copies.

Monsta Xs Piece is 48th with 48,666 copies and Big Bang member Daesungs Delight 2, released last December, is 49th with 48,586 in sales.

In the singles category, TWICEs Candy Pop and Wake Me Up ranked eighth and ninth, respectively.
