Gal Gadot proved to be one hell of an Independence Day weekend surprise on Friday when she dropped by a childrens hospital dressed as Wonder Woman.

The actress, who plays the iconic character in the DCEU, took some time off from filming the new instalment of the series in order to play with youngsters who were being treated.

Dropping by the Inova Childrens Hospital in Annandale, Virginia, it was clear the kids were delighted with a real-life super coming to wish them well.

Dressed completely at Diana Prince herself, Gal was seen beaming as she held tiny babies who are currently too ill to be home.

She also happily posed with the team of staff there and dropped by to see some teen fans who were also seeking treatment.

The hospital later posted pictures of her day at the centre online, and tweeted their thanks at the warrior princess.

Dr. Lucas Collazo wrote: Thank you [Gal Gadot] for visiting us Inova Health Childrens Hospital. You are a true Wonder Woman. The kids loved it…and so did the staff.

The heart-warming day trip came while Gal was busy filming the Wonder Woman 1984, which is due for release in November next year.

Fans are eager to see what will happen to the character, especially seeing as her love interest Steve Trevor appears to be alive after dying in the first film, and despite the 30 year time jump, hasnt aged a day.

It will be focused on the year 1984, the heart of the Cold War era, and although further details are still under wraps studio Warner Bros trademarked 17 websites including Wonder Woman 1984, Wonder Woman Arrives, Wonder Woman Returns, and Wonder Woman Lives, which could go a long way to giving us some clue as to what it will all be about.
