The tri-state has one more picture-perfect summer day to enjoy Friday before the weather takes a nearly week-long turn for the worst.

Friday will be bright and sunny with highs reaching the mid-80s. The humidity will be low with a slight breeze, Storm Team 4 says. After that, starting Saturday evening, rain and storms will hover over the region through the rest of the weekend and lingering through much of next week.

The high pressure that has been protecting the area for the last several days will move out to sea Saturday morning, setting the stage for a wet and unsettled end to the weekend and start of the workweek.

The clouds will thicken beginning Saturday afternoon with the heaviest rain arriving overnight. Sunday morning will be damp, but there will be a brief dry window mid-day, forecasters said. Rain will pick up again late Sunday.

That stormy pattern and low pressure could settle over the tri-state for days, bringing the threat for showers every day next week, meteorologists said. A total rainfall of two to four inches could be expected.
