Actress Jodie Comer has revealed on Lorraine that she was inspired by soap opera Brookside when she was younger.
The Killing Eve star, 26, won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series on Sunday night for her performance as Oksana Astankova — aka Villanelle — in the BBC America series. In addition to Killing Eve, Jodie is also known for her work on Doctor Foster and Thirteen.
However, it turns out that the esteemed actress was actually inspired by a Channel 4 soap. When discussing her prestigious award win with Ross King — Lorraines Los Angeles Correspondent — she was quizzed about what inspired her when she was younger — a question to which she simply replied: Brookside.

Once one of the nations most popular soaps, Brookside often went toe-to-toe with juggernauts EastEnders and Coronation Street, and is fondly remembered for its iconic storylines, such as the Body Under The Patio narrative and, less favourably, the incest story in 1996.
