Oakland firefighters were working a small brush fire Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Interstate 580 and Highway 13. No structures were being threatened, said a dispatcher with the Oakland Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 11:27 a.m. and because of the heightened fire danger in the Bay Area this weekend, six engines and two chiefs responded to the relatively small fire. “Theyve got crews up the hill to make sure it doesnt climb or get out of control,” said the dispatcher, who did not give his name.
