The team behind the Lord Of The Rings film franchise as we know it, Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens, have revealed their excitement at the Amazon reboot of JRR Tolkiens tale.
While earlier this year it was confirmed by Peter himself he was not going to be involved at all, fans of the OG film franchise can breathe a sigh of relief that the New Zealand filmmaker may still sprinkle some of his magic on the reboot.
The pair have come back to work on Mortal Engines together, which focuses on Philip Reeves dystopic book series about a world following the fictional 60 Minute War that has forced countries to take to wheels and drive around the earth eating up smaller states, with Hester Shaw its main protagonist and heroine.
This project of his has kept the LOTR director too busy to even contemplate taking on the Amazon reboot, which will see the story spread out over a TV series.

However, as he told Metro.co.uk, hes keen to help in any way that he can, as he explained the showrunners were going to send him some scripts for the PJ look over.
I dont have thoughts on it because I havent seen [anything], he said when asked on the Amazon takeover. I think theyre going to send us some scripts to see if we can help them along.
He added it wasnt something he could get involved with while he made the Christian Rivers-directed Mortal Engines, but added: I wish them all the best and if we can help them we certainly will try.
Its a big task.
His filmmaking comrade, screenwriter and producer Philippa shared her enthusiasm for the project, which will give a new spin on the classic tale of Frodo and the One Ring.
Fresh eyes on that story is such a good thing to do, she said. So Im excited to see what they come up with.
Its a welcome excitement after our hearts were a little shattered when Pete squashed the idea he may somehow be involved in the upcoming remake.
More: Peter Jackson
Im not involved at all with the Lord Of The Rings series, I understand my name can be quoted, but nothing is happening with me on this project, he said during a chat with Allocine.fr earlier this year.

While its clear he holds no epic sway over the direction of the project, just a little input on the script will have us sleeping easy.
So, please, Amazon, send Peter the scripts!
Mortal Engines is in cinemas 8 December.
