See a Dreamy Saoirse Ronan Imagine Being Famous in The Seagull

Celebrities

Its a little bit funny to hear the words, “What does it feel like to be famous?” come from the mouth of Saoirse Ronan, the three-time Academy Award nominee who riveted Hollywood with her performance in Lady Bird last year. That line makes slightly more sense, however, in the context of Michael Mayers adaptation of Chekhovs The Seagull, which stars Ronan as Nina Zarechnaya, the ill-fated and lovelorn ingenue who dreams of becoming an actress.

In this exclusive clip from the film, we get a taste of Ronans Nina with all her fresh-faced naïveté as she discusses her dreams with Corey Stolls Trigorin, a famous middle-brow writer and object of Ninas affection. Although adapting a dramaturgical force like Chekhov for the big screen is no easy feat, this films all-star cast is certainly fit for the job: the roster also includes Elisabeth Moss, Annette Bening, and Billy Howle. The buzzy adaptation premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival this Saturday; Sony Pictures Classics will release the film on May 11.
