The latest and last instalment of Sharknado, Its About Time, landed on screens today and its an understatement to say its already become an instant sensation just like the other movies.
The sixth in the franchise (which premiered last night in the US and will do the same in the UK tonight) sees the main characters, including Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, Cassandra Scerbo and Viva Fox back battling sharks – but this time they also travel through time to do it.
Because after six movies, they really needed to get imaginative when it came to the sharknados that continued to descend upon earth…seemingly halted at the end of each movie by a triumphant Fin (Ziering).
Get it? Fin? Like a shark? Okay…
Anyway, while weve seen Tara Reids April Wexler give birth in a shark that had just been in outer space, after being turned into a bionic woman with laser eyes (and a chainsaw arm that helped her escape said labour ward shark) – the fact she was left as just a head at the end of the last chapter should tell you she wouldnt be back this time around.
But no. Nothing is set in stone when youve got sharknados flying about the place and April is back and more able-bodied than ever.

An instant meme, Reid tells us she, and the rest of the cast, are just as in on the joke as the rest of us, as she laughed along with Metro.co.uk at how utterly ridiculous the scripts have become over the years.
People love the crazy humour and the movies are so bad theyre good, she told us. Theyre so outrageous. I never thought there would be a Skarknado 2! Its one of these things, like, “are you kidding me?”, we didnt even get it…Its a cult phenomenon. How do they come up with these storylines?
The 42-year-old added: After I gave birth in a shark from outer space, how were they doing to top that?
Its so crazy and thats what makes it so funny. Everyone is laughing at it but you have to play the character straight and thats where the humour is. If we were laughing along it wouldnt be as funny.
Fans that have been able to watch the film so far have already turned it into a meme as social media buzzed today with lols and WTFs aplenty.

But there was a period when Aprils role was in serious jeopardy, when after the third movie showrunners handed the fate of their main character to viewers who voted as to whether Taras character was killed off or not.

I swear if there was one finger left theyve find a way to bring her back, she said. But with number three, they had the crazy part where it ended with #AprilLives or #AprilDies. I didnt want to do the film then because what if everyone wants me to die? Im not going to work again.
Unfortunately they did vote for her to die – you mess with the bull, youll get the horns – and thus Bionic April was born. Or, rather, made.
She really did get the last laugh though, as Reids career has enjoyed a stellar rise back to the kind of fame and recognition she had when she first became a superstar two decades ago as Vicky Lathum in the American Pie franchise that kicked off in 1999.
And she knows it.
