Emerald Fennell is pulling double duty on a pair of beloved British imports. The actress and novelist is not only show-running the second season of the critically acclaimed series Killing Eve, developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and starring Sandra Oh—shes also playing Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall and second wife of Prince Charles, in the next season of Netflixs The Crown.

Fennell is accompanying a brand-new cast that includes Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, and Josh OConnor as Prince Charles. The highly anticipated third season is expected to air later this year, and will include story lines such as Charless early relationship with the duchess—whom he first met about 10 years before marrying his first wife, Diana Spencer.

Fennell is still staying mum about specific plot details, but did say that some unexpected revelations about Charles and Camillas long-time love and friendship will be revealed.

“I was surprised the most by their relationship when they were really young. I didnt really know that they had a serious relationship that pre-dated their current relationship,” said Fennell at Killing Eves Season 2 red carpet premiere in Hollywood on Monday evening. “I think people will be surprised to learn they experienced great challenges in both their lives, and were able to maintain a strong bond through it all.”

When it came time to prepare for the role, Fennell said she had little to draw upon—which wound up being an asset to her performance.

“The weird thing about Camilla Parker Bowles, theres very, very little about her as a young woman—which is quite freeing. It means that Ive been able to get a sense of her rather than being able to do a mimicry,” said the actress. “Theres almost nothing of her. No footage of her voice, and maybe only a handful of photos. So Ive been quite lucky in that regard. I got off fairly lightly.”

In the meantime, Killing Eve returns April 7 for a season that starts just seconds after Season 1 ended—when Eve (played by Oh) pretended to seduce Villanelle (Jodie Comer) before stabbing her in the stomach instead. The grim consequences of that knife twist will kick off the shows next chapter.

“This years series really leans into the obsession and the importance of the stabbing at the end of Series 1,” said Fennell on the red carpet. “The question we ask [is]: what do you do? An ordinary woman who has never committed an act of violence suddenly puts a knife in her stomach. What does that do to you fundamentally? And if youre a psychopath, one of the greatest assassins in the world, what happens when you make a judgment that is so baRead More – Source
