Max George has made his solo debut after The Wanted went on their hiatus years ago.
Four years after the band went on their farewell tour – dubbed TWAT by those cheeky lads by the way, The Wanted Arena Tour – Max George has at last dropped his solo single Barcelona.
The track is set to be a bit of a summer banger, largely because Max has shunned the usual tack of boyband break outs producing a sound entirely different to whats gone before. For Max, he didnt want to lose his The Wanted roots, and the track definitely holds some similarities to Glad You Came.
There are bits with a The Wanted feel, theres a bit of a Glad You Came about it, thats what I wanted! I didnt want to steer away from what Im good at and try and be something Im not, he told Metro.co.uk. Theres a new word I keep hearing, I keep hearing it being called a summer bop. Its such an old school word but I kind of like.
The video is a love story set on a deserted beach, which sees Max canoodling with none other than brand new Love Islander Laura Crane, who joined the show after Ellie and Charlies shock dumping.

Laura was wonderful. She was so full of fun and energy and that made my job so much easier. She was amazing in the water too and is definitely the star of the video! If I could have her in all my videos I would, Max gushed.
He added that he thinks she will do well in the villa – which is set to see another couple either split up or be dumped as she makes her entrance.
I havent really watched it as Ive been in US, but Im here now and will definitely be tuning in! I think she can definitely make it [to the final], he said.
Shes an amazing girl and Im so happy that everyone will see it. She deserves all the happiness in the world.
The video was shot in Portugal so that they could ensure a decent amount of surf for pro surfer Laura to show Max how its done.
The concept is about a holiday romance, something I think everyone can relate to. It always sucks when it has to end. Its also following the story of the song itself, he said. It was one of the most enjoyable shoots Ive ever done. It was three days long, and the weather was awful, but the cast and crew never stopped laughing through the whole thing.
Laura tried to teach me to surf, I failed. Good laugh though.

Max is now working on his first solo EP, but hasnt ruled out a The Wanted reunion.
I think it could happen, he said. Not yet, but I dont see why not. We all hang out, and it comes up. It would be great to do it again at some point.
The three of us [Jay McGuinness and Tom Parker] certainly agree, dont know about the other two lads.
He added: Ive not spoken with Nathan or Siva but weve not fallen out or anything.
