Get ready to go on an adventure because Dora The Explorer is coming to the big screen.

Nickelodeons long-running childrens series is as educational as it is beloved, but its still taken 15 years for producers to get a movie green-lit.

According to Whats On TV, filming is now underway in Australias Gold Coast region, with actress Isabela Moner stepping into the intrepid explorers well-worn hiking boots.

Moner has previously wowed audiences in huge movies such as Transformers: The Last Knight and Sicario: Day Of The Soldano.

When she was younger, Moner voiced a character on the Dora spinoff series, Dora and Friends: Into the City, so shes well-versed in the shows history.

The teen star took to Instagram to give fans a sneak peek, posting a picture of her in full Dora gear – complete with her iconic pink t-shirt.

So excited to show you the First Look of me as #DoraTheExplorer, she wrote in the caption.

Back in May, when Moner was announced for the role, she said in a statement: Im honored and excited to bring Dora to life. I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model — she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl.

I cant wait to put on the backpack and begin her next adventure!

Dora the Explorer featured the first-ever Latina animated lead character and ran for eight seasons between 2000 to 2014.

It was hailed for its educational qualities and was credited with teaching many young children basic language skills in Spanish.

Dora The Explorer, the live-action movie, is scheduled for release on 16 August 2019.
